Suddenly glancing at this line sitting inside the restaurant has put me into another state of reverie. Well most will never know, but oh my. It reminds me also of:
"‘Lo! Lola! Lolita!’ I hear myself crying from a doorway into the sun..."
What is it about calling out for someone in vain?
